Welcome to the official webpage of the National Citrus Research Program, Paripatle, Dhankuta
Nepal Agricultural Research Council (NARC) officially established National Citrus Research Program (NCRP) with the mandate of technological generation on citrus fruit crops at the national level. Prior to this, the program has undergone several changes in organizational set-up, name, and mandate. At first, it was established in the name of "Citrus Research Station" in 1961(2018 B.S.) under the Department of Agriculture. Then, in the fiscal year, 2023/24 B.S. with the aim of expanding working area, including other horticultural crops, the center was named as " Horticulture Research Station". Again, with the motive of making the program more comprehensive, it was transformed into "Dhankuta Agriculture Center". The "Citrus Crop Development Program" established in 2029 B.S., was shifted from Pokhara in 2031 B.S.within the premises of this center in Dhankuta. In 2048 B.S. The office of the "Citrus Crop Development Program" was shifted to Kathmandu, Kirtipur, and only the farm and center was kept in Dhankuta. As per the decision of the Government of Nepal to conduct all the researches related to agriculture from the National Agricultural Research and Service Center, Khumaltar, this office was placed under the same service center. Later, in 2048 B.S., the service center was abolished and Nepal Agricultural Research Council was established. The center was placed under the council and renamed as "Agriculture Research Center, Dhankuta" and according to the long-term agricultural plan, this office has been working as a "National Citrus Research Program" since 2057 B.S.
